Honorable members of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine

I am Sang Eun Kim, the 23rd President of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine. I feel a high sense of responsibility in regard to the pending issues faced by our association.

As President of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine, I wish to make it our ultimate objective to contribute to improving the health of the Korean people by increasing the value of nuclear medicine and helping nuclear medicine create practical value in the medical field. Moreover, it is my hope to help members of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine to practice nuclear medicine, research and engage in nuclear medicine education with dignity and a strong sense of duty.

In this regard, I will spare no effort in carrying out the following tasks.

To further enhance the status of nuclear medicine and expand fields where nuclear medicine is practiced, I will focus my efforts on strengthening and providing evidence for the clinical applications of distinctive diagnostic and therapeutic technologies of nuclear medicine, and on providing technological and institutional support for the swift application of new clinical applications of nuclear medicine. I will also concentrate my efforts on expanding the fields where nuclear medicine is practiced by increasing the association¡¯s support for cutting-edge molecular imaging methods. This includes strengthening mutual exchange with other associations and enhancing collaboration with universities, research institutes, and industry in order to expand both the unique field of nuclear medicine and new fields of nuclear medicine.

Priority will also be placed on playing a leading role in the future of nuclear medicine through the development of new technology and the convergence of technologies. Efforts will be focused on providing future-oriented educational services within the association through the expansion of a platform for the development of educational programs, including professional training programs and continuing education programs.

It is also my hope to contribute to making the association that endeavors to create value within the Korean people and society, and faithfully carries out its social responsibility with a strong sense of professionalism. Efforts will be made to strengthen mutual exchange with administrative institutions, policy-making bodies and policy-implementing organizations, so that the association may receive the institutional and policy support needed for enabling nuclear medicine to create value in the medical field.

Lastly, l will make my utmost effort to further develop the world¡¯s leading nuclear medicine of Korea, so that by contributing to the local and global development of nuclear medicine, Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine may become a well-respected association in the world.

I look forward to receiving your advice and support for the future of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine.

Thank you.
